Tom Daley, current 10m platform diving world champion, revealed on his Instagram and YouTube pages that the legendary British artist had created a portrait of him, which showed the athlete completely naked.
In the portrait, which is now on show at the Los Angeles Museum of Art as part of Hockney’s 82 Portraits and 1 Still-Life exhibition, Daley is shown sitting nude on a brown chair, his modesty saved only by a strategically placed hand.
In a video on his YouTube account, Daley documents taking his mother and husband, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, to LACMA to see the portrait for the first time, and explains how he sat for Hockney last year.
On showing the pair the portrait, Daley remarked that it was “weird” for his mum to see him naked, and Black joked, “This is a warning shot to you David Hockney, you back off my man!”
Daley recently became a father for the first time, after the pair welcomed a baby son, Robbie, last month.
