One person is dead after a tour bus carrying the rock band Buckcherry crashed while on the road for their national tour.

At around 2 a.m. Friday morning, Buckcherry’s tour bus was in a multi-vehicle accident on South Carolina highway I-26 near Spartanburg.

“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed,” the band said in a statement on their social media accounts.

“Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.”

The South Carolina Department of Transportation said a driver stepped out of his car on the highway and was struck and killed by a Toyota sedan.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. All eastbound lanes on the interstate were shut down for several hours.

It is unclear what caused the initial crash.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.

A representative for Buckcherry told The Independent that the accident occurred before the tour bus arrived at the scene.

“No one was hurt and our driver is still our driver,” the spokesperson said.

“Buckcherry’s scheduled performance tomorrow at the Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is expected to proceed as planned,” the band’s statement said. “We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support.”

It is unclear how the bus was involved in the collision.

The 2000s band, known for hit 2006 songs “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry,” had been traveling from its most recent show at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina, to the Florida show.

Buckcherry is made up of lead singer Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie Dacanay, guitarist Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz.

The rock band first formed in 1995 in Anaheim, California and put out their first two albums Buckcherry and Time Bomb. After dissolving briefly in 2002, the group was reformed with a new lineup in 2005 and went on to release nine more albums.
