An upcoming recruitment event is giving aspiring apprentice engineers the opportunity to meet some of Plymouth’s leading engineering employers.
The Engineering Apprenticeship Event on 12th March, held at Cornwall College’s Engineering Skills Centre on the Sisna Park industrial estate, Plymouth, will link those looking to kick start their career in the industry with top firms hoping to fill apprenticeship vacancies.
Companies attending the recruitment event include Becton Dickinson (BD), Oakmount Control Systems, Tooltech, Hymec Aerospace and PTG Precision Engineering Ltd.
With this variety of engineering companies in attendance, the apprenticeship vacancies on offer range from mechanical to electrical engineering roles, as well as tool room and machinist positions.
“This could be a potentially lifechanging opportunity,” said Martin Smith, head of campus at the Engineering Skills Centre.
“The chance to establish a link with engineering companies of this calibre is rare indeed, especially when they have several top-quality apprenticeship vacancies they are actively looking to recruit to,” Martin explained.
“For a group of lucky individuals, this could be the starting point of a career in an exciting and ever evolving industry.”
Attendees will also get the chance connect with PMG (Plymouth Manufacturing Group) and find out more about the full-time study options through The Engineering Skills Centre, Cornwall College.
“The Engineering Skills Centre is home to our Apprenticeship Academy, which provides an ideal foundation for a wide range of skills in engineering,” continued Martin.
“We offer a one-year full-time study pathway with a guaranteed 45-day engineering placement with leading companies in and around Plymouth, including BD, MARS Wrigley and Kawasaki.
“For anyone beginning in the industry, it’s a perfect starting point.”
