Good morning Arsenal fans
Arsenal defeated Wolves 1-0 at Molineux and are just one point away from West Ham and fourth place.
Gabriel Magalhaes scored the Gunners’ winner on 25 minutes and Mikel Arteta’s side managed to keep a clean sheet.
It didn’t come easy as Gabriel Martinelli was sent off with two reckless yellow cards in the 69th minute.
Martinelli fouled Daniel Podence and then committed another heavy challenge on Chiquinho a few seconds later.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to continue their chase for Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Villa reportedly rejected three offers for Luiz during the January transfer window.
Tottenham have also been linked with the 23-year-old as boss Antonio Conte was looking to boost his squad.
And that may mean the north London rivals will duel for the Brazil international, possibly for around £32million.
And Arsenal seem concerned about tying star man Bukayo Saka down to a new deal.
According to the Mail, the Gunners chiefs have made it a priority to extend Saka’s contract.
The 20-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2024, and the north Londoners want to boost his £35,000-a-week wages to match their highest earners.
However, those behind the scenes are concerned that the versatile midfielder could snub an extension should boss Mikel Arteta fail to take the team to next season’s Champions League.
This comes as Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly interested in the England international.
Arteta has confirmed that the club is planning to hold contract talks with Saka soon.
The Spanish head coach said: “We are going to have a conversation with the player and then with his family and his agent so that everybody is on board.
“Obviously our desire is to keep Bukayo for as long as possible because we are really happy with him.
“He is part of our DNA who is growing and maturing all the time.
“His importance to the team is unquestionable and we want to keep our best talent at the club, that’s for sure”
