Manchester United may be faced with some difficult decisions in the near future as Michael Carrick looks to fine-tune his squad, with INEOS’ help, for the coming season. Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow have arrived, but focus has been as much on those potentially departing Old Trafford.
Casemiro’s exit left a major hole to fill, with two players and counting brought in, but he could be joined out the door by some more high-profile names. That includes Marcus Rashford, who is searching for a new club after Barcelona opted against signing him again following a successful loan, and perhaps Benjamin Sesko. Here, Express Sport runs through the latest news concerning United…
Marcus Rashford presented with new transfer possibility
Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce have reportedly established contact regarding a potential deal for Rashford.
The Sun claim that Fenerbahce are willing to “break the bank” for Rashford should the England international be open to joining the club. It is claimed that the forward features on a three-man shortlist, which also includes Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
Fenerbahce have approached Rashford’s representatives to assess his appetite for joining the club. Rashford contributed 14 goals and 14 assists for Barcelona last season, yet the Catalan giants opted to bring in forwards Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi this summer.
“What I can say about Marcus is I appreciate a lot to work with him,” Barcelona boss Hansi Flick said. “Sometimes it’s not always that you do know what happens with players who are on loan. I think our situation is not easy for that.
“But I appreciate working with him a lot; he’s a fantastic player and a fantastic person. I think also the team miss him, I will miss him, but it’s life, this is what we have to accept.”
Bayern Munich stance on Benjamin Sesko emerges
Bayern Munich reportedly hold an interest in United striker Sesko. The German outfit have previously weighed up a move for the forward and continue to regard the 23-year-old as potentially part of the club’s long-term transfer plans.
CFBayern Insider suggests that Sesko remains a “very interesting” option for the club. Harry Kane presently spearheads the attack for Bayern, but it is understood that the England captain may drop into a deeper position in future, creating room for another striker in the side.
Bayern have brought in Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, lessening the requirement for an additional forward. Nevertheless, the report states that Sesko continues to feature on Bayern’s shortlist of targets.
Sesko concluded his first campaign at United with seven goals from 13 appearances under Carrick.
