Trio with 120 Premier League goals can still be signed without spending a penny

Everybody loves a bargain, and football clubs are no different. Despite spending in windows being at an all-time high, there’s still money to be saved with sensible scouting in the transfer market.

One of the best ways clubs like to do this is through free transfers, as it allows them to avoid splurging millions on transfer fees to secure a player’s signature. Remarkably, there’s a trio of players currently listed as free agents who have a whopping 120 Premier League goals between them – Express Sport details who they are and why they’re still without a club.

‘Football without Origi is nothing!’ That was a popular saying Liverpool fans had towards the Belgian during his time on Merseyside, where he netted 22 Premier League goals, but since 2024, Divock Origi has been without football. After leaving Liverpool on a free transfer, Origi signed for AC Milan, but his time in Italy didn’t go to plan. He was loaned to Nottingham Forest at the start of the 2023/24 season, but upon his return to Milan, Origi was informed his future would be with the under-23s. In December 2025, Origi’s contract was terminated over 600 days since his last competitive appearance.

From one ex-Liverpool ace to another. Philippe Coutinho was revered by the Reds faithful during his 201 games for the club. He scored 47 times in the Premier League and was rewarded with a bumper move to Barcelona, but the playmaker didn’t settle at the Catalan giants. The Brazilian turned into somewhat of a journeyman, enjoying spells at Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, and Qatari side Al Duhail. The 33-year-old was last seen in his native Brazil playing for Vasco da Gama, but left as a free agent earlier this year. He remains a free agent heading into the 2026 summer transfer window.

And finally, a player who looked to have the world at his feet when he broke onto the scene at Tottenham. Dele Alli originally joined Spurs in 2015 and was part of the side that challenged for the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final. By 2022 though, he’d left, firstly to Everton, before joining Besiktas on loan. Dele was never able to rediscover the form that saw him net 51 times in the Premier League, and after a brief spell at Italian side Como, he currently finds himself as a free agent.
