Man Utd want to sign ‘next Neymar’ as exciting January transfer lined up

Manchester United are plotting a move for a young Brazilian talent who has been learning from Neymar, according to reports. It has been a mixed campaign for the Red Devils, who have experienced plenty of highs and lows over the last few months. They have flirted with the Premier League‘s top four but are currently in mid-table following Monday’s defeat to Everton.

United spent over £220million in the summer window, bringing in a number of big-name players with the aim of improving their squad. They have also kept an eye on the future, recruiting several young stars with the potential to shine in years to come. Diego Leon arrived at Old Trafford earlier this year, while Colombian youth international Cristian Orozco is said to be close to completing a £755,000 switch.

Now, it has emerged that United could dip into the January market for another exciting talent. They are interested in signing Santos winger Robinho Junior and could strike when the window opens, according to Brazilian outlet Diario Do Peixe.

The report claims that Robinho has been tracked by United for some time, having been on their radar for around a year. Talks over a potential move are yet to begin but the Red Devils are preparing to firm up their interest in January.

Those in power at Old Trafford are said to view the 17-year-old as a player with ‘great potential for development’. Club scouts have already travelled to Brazil to watch him in action for Santos, who are struggling near the bottom of the table.

Robinho has already been likened to Neymar, who he plays with at club level and is no doubt learning a lot from. He also hails from a footballing family as the son of former Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Robinho.

It comes after reports suggested that Ruben Amorim has identified three specific areas of his squad that need improving ahead of the 2026/27 season.

He reportedly wants to sign two wing-backs and a midfielder next summer, but a hectic January transfer window is not yet off the table.

United are said to be among several clubs keeping tabs on Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo, who has been tipped to leave the Vitality Stadium at the turn of the year.

Meanwhile, it seems likely that Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho will be departing Old Trafford ahead of next season. Both players are spending the current campaign out on loan but could leave permanently in the summer.
