Man Utd squad show true colours with training ground change after £50m spend

Manchester United players are reportedly putting in extra hours at the training ground as they strive to maintain their momentum under Ruben Amorim. The squad is making full use of the state-of-the-art Carrington facilities, which were unveiled in August.

According to The Sun, the United team is expected to arrive for training at 9am each day, but players have instead been turning up just after 8am and staying on for several hours post-training. The report suggests that some players spend up to seven hours a day, making the most of the facilities on offer, and showing they now really want to be a part of the improved environment.

The £50 million revamp of the training ground includes an expanded communal area with a pool table, a games room and a barbershop. Players also have access to ice baths and saunas.

It’s reported that some members of the squad even took advantage of the improvement to the training ground on the Sunday evening following their 2-1 victory over Liverpool last month. They are said to have used the ice baths and saunas to kick-start their recovery ahead of the next game.

United have seen a resurgence in form after a challenging start to the season, which sparked speculation about Amorim’s future. However, such chatter has now subsided with the team going unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches.

After drawing their last two matches 2-2, they’ll be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Monday night (8pm kick-off).

Speaking at the unveiling of the revamped training complex, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe declared: “While a world-class facility won’t take us to that place alone, I think it is one of the key ingredients in the modern world.

“I think here now we have a world-class training facility.

“Thanks to Ruben and the sports staff for being adaptable for the last 12 months. It was a difficult year, and it was not the perfect training facilities that you had to put up with. I hope you enjoy your new home and I hope it helps take Manchester United where Manchester United needs to go.”

The announcement follows the recent revelation that supporters will have the opportunity to tour the upgraded facilities. For £100, fans can embark on a four-hour tour encompassing both Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.

The experience includes a look at the swimming pool, cafeteria, recovery zones and press conference facilities, though photography is strictly prohibited.
