AMC Theatres has postponed its plan to show live-streamed concerts this summer after a recent hot streak at the box office.
Performers like Bebe Rexha, Maren Morris, Paris Hilton and Kim Petras were set to put on interactive, real-time shows that would simulcast to local theaters in a brand new live music experience from June 17 to June 20.
However, the cinema chain said in a statement Wednesday that they were changing the plan to instead focus on the current momentum in theatres after new releases like Obsession, Backrooms and Scary Movie have overperformed at the box office.
“Week after week in 2026, the domestic box office performance has exceeded or met expectations,” AMC Theatres said. “With a robust lineup of films and strong advance ticket sales in the weeks ahead, AMC is making some programming adjustments during the month of June.”
The company continued, “AMC is very excited about its partnership with Arena One, and we look forward to announcing updated dates and additional artists in the weeks and months ahead.”

AMC said the simulcasts, dubbed AMC Girls Night Live, would be moved to later in the year. Tickets that have already been purchased will be refunded.
It comes as the summer box office is up more than 13 percent year-over-year. Plus, the cinema chain is gearing up for more heavy hitters coming to the screen over the next few weeks with the releases of Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, Toy Story 5, Supergirl and Minions and Monsters.
“The results that AMC saw in May were particularly encouraging,” AMC CEO Adam Aron said in a June 1 press release. “With our welcoming 25.5 million guests to our theatres in May of 2026, we posted our most highly attended May since 2019, both domestically and globally.

“These immensely satisfying results reflect the strength of a diverse film slate, one that was driven both by established blockbusters with their well-known characters along with entirely new IP,” Aron said. “This current measure of success, combined with the many compelling movies coming to our screens in the weeks and months ahead, gives us great confidence as we look to the rest of 2026.”
More than 300 AMC locations in 89 markets across the country were set to show the concert series. Tickets ranged from $40 to $75, depending on the artist and market.
The events, when rescheduled, will use a special sound technology that will allow “crowd buzz, sound and reactions” from the in-theater concerts to be reflected to performers in real-time during their shows.
