Shaun Murphy and Wu Yize are locked in an intense World Snooker Championship final following the first of four sessions.
Wu raced into an early 3-0 lead against Murphy, but the 2005 champion belatedly recovered his poise, and the Chinese player had to hit back in order to finish a poor-quality session all square at 4-4.
The final also had to be halted after a protester was ejected from the Crucible by security officials after jumping onto the arena floor and shouting ‘nobody pay their TV licences’.
Referee Rob Spencer also addressed the audience following the second frame, warning: “Make sure your phones are on silent, or switched off. Don’t be the person that has to be thrown out.”
Wu, 22, is chasing a maiden title and could make it back‑to‑back wins for China following Zhao Xintong’s triumph a year ago.
Murphy, on the other hand, is currently playing in his fifth World Championship final, having been runner-up in 2009, 2015 and 2021.
We will be covering all the action from the Crucible live throughout the final on Sunday and Monday and you can follow all the action right here…
