A Kill the Bill demonstration is happening outside Charles Cross police station – and it’s promised to be peaceful and socially distanced.
Organisers have strongly recommended mask-wearing, as well as maintaining social distancing.
New Covid rules which came into force on Monday (March 29) meant outdoor gathering for the purpose of protesting is legal and, as long as protestors stick to rules, not legally subject to police interference.
A Facebook event for the protest reads: “Mask wearing is strongly recommended and protestors are encouraged to keep socially distanced. To ensure this is as Covid secure as possible we would encourage volunteers to help steward this.
“Bring your friends, banners and placards and demand the killing of the Tories’ Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
Protesting is not a crime, we need democratic community control of the police and we need to face down the Tories who are attempting to clamp down on the right to protest.”
