Commenting on the Government’s announcement of new defence cuts, Luke Pollard MP said:
“Today confirms what we feared: more Tory defence cuts are coming for Devonport. When we need more surface ships, the decision to cut two Devonport-based frigates is a backward step that will leave a new capability gap for the Royal Navy.
“Cutting the Army by 10,000 personnel to make it the smallest since the 1700s is a mistake. These cuts could seriously limit our forces’ capacity simultaneously to deploy overseas, support allies and maintain strong national defences and resilience.”
