Ronnie O’Sullivan will be hoping to set up a meeting with either Judd Trump or Ding Junhui by booking his place the final of the UK Championship later today. The Rocket will face Hossein Vafaei in the last four as he chases a record-breaking eighth title before Trump goes up against Ding in the evening session.
O’Sullivan edged past Zhou Yuelong in the quarter-finals on Friday with a 6-5 victory and hinted afterwards that he could look to change sports in the not-too-distant future. The man from Essex is known to enjoy playing in Asia and suggested that he would be keen on forging a new career in Chinese eight-ball pool.
He said: “I like being in China. I’ve got to see if my sponsors are cool with it, if they’re alright with it then it’s an easier gig for me. It’s a smaller table, the players aren’t as good so you can get away with it.
“You bring a snooker skill to pool then you’re ahead of the game as this is technically the harder sport. You get to a point, I don’t want to be a sad-case out there. You look at them and think ‘he’s done mate’. You see that with older players, you think ‘just stop’. It’s going to come at some point, I don’t want it to happen.”
