Teignmouth Players return to the iconic Ice Factory Studio Theatre
After what seems an age the Teignmouth Players are at last able to return to the Ice Factory Studio Theatre and will celebrate their return with a New, Original Musical play that will be a delight for Sinatra fans and many others .
FRANK’S Final Redemption? is a musical play celebrating the life of Frank Sinatra – one of America’s greatest 20th Century entertainers – told in his own words and music.
Players’ Chairman Daniel Saint was approached by two members of the Society, Steve Wreford who has over 40 years experience working in musicals and retired music teacher Gordon Mellor, who between them had written this fascinating and entertaining musical play during lockdown.
Frank Sinatra was an instinctive musical genius and a consummate entertainer who used his artistry to become one of the most recognisable symbols of American culture.
Frank’s colourful life story unfolds along with many of his most popular songs and while big hitters like “New York, New York” and “My Way” are performed aside less known, but surprisingly alluring, songs like “I Fall in Love Too Easily” and “Nancy – with the laughing face”.
Frank’s brush with the Mafia, his relationship with US Presidents and his Rat Pack buddies will also feature in the plot of this well written and enjoyable play that came out of adversity.
The audience will also get an insight into his generosity, the love for his family and also his stand for racial equality.
Much has been written on Sinatra. Many have a story to tell and/or a favourite song of his on their personal top 20 list. Some people like to dwell on his darker side and others on his success. Frank’s Final Redemption? looks to recapture aspects of all of his life and makes for a fascinating evening’s entertainment.
