Sadio Mane was spotted celebrating Senegal’s victory at the Africa Cup of Nations with his wife, who is 13 years younger than him. The former Liverpool winger achieved continental glory with the Lions of Teranga for the second time on Sunday night as they defeated Morocco in the final. Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in extra time after an extraordinary finish to proceedings in normal time.
Morocco were awarded a controversial penalty in the final seconds of the game, leading to widespread fury among the Senegal players. In response, manager Pape Thiaw ordered his team to leave the field of play in protest against the decision. The match was delayed for almost 20 minutes before Mane ran into the dressing room and convinced his team-mates to return.
Morocco forward Brahim Diaz eventually stepped up to take the crucial spot-kick but was left humiliated, with his attempted chip being easily collected by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The botched effort proved costly for Morocco, who were pegged back in extra time when Gueye found the top corner with a brilliant strike. It turned out to be the winning goal, allowing Mane and his team-mates to have the last laugh at the final whistle.
They welcomed their first child last year, 14 months after the wedding, with a baby girl born in March. She was also involved in the celebrations following Sunday’s final, having been brought into the dressing room by Tamba.
Her father previously revealed that she first met Mane when she was 16 and the couple did not date prior to their marriage.
Amadou Tamba shared: “My wife and Aisha visited their [Mane’s] family one day, and this is where he met her for the first time. He probably saw something special in her, and his parents appreciated her as well.
“They came to see me. We discussed, as per the tradition, agreed on everything and waited for this day to happen. They were not dating because Aisha was still young.”
More children could soon be on the way, with Mane stating that he would be open to expanding his family further.
Quizzed on his desired number of kids in an interview with Senepeopleplus, he responded: “Funny question. If it is just a choice, I would say three or four. Except that it is God who decides and I will thank him no matter what.”
When he was asked if he would consider having an even larger family with six or seven kids, Mane said: “Maybe, you never know.”
