Lamar Odom arrested for DUI in Las Vegas

Former NBA star Lamar Odom has been arrested in Las Vegas for driving under the influence, according to records.

Odom was arrested early Saturday morning for DUI along with two traffic violations, including one for speeding more than 40mph above the legal limit, according to an arrest record viewed by The Independent.

The 46-year-old was taken into custody at the Clark County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court March 17.

Odom’s former manager told The Independent she was “not surprised” to learn of his arrest.

Odom, from Queens, New York, was drafted fourth overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999. He went on to play 14 seasons in the NBA for the Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Odom was part of the Lakers’ 2009 and 2010 championship-winning teams.

He attempted a comeback in 2014 with the New York Knicks but was ultimately cut after failing to report.

Odom has a documented history of drug and alcohol issues dating back to his time in the NBA. He was suspended in 2001 and 2002 for failing drug tests required by the league.

He married reality TV star Khloé Kardashian in 2009 in a televised ceremony on E!. The pair filed for divorce in 2013, the same year Odom was first arrested for DUI. Odom’s struggles with drugs and alcohol were reportedly a contributing factor in his divorce from Kardashian, who has spoken about catching her ex with another women while married.

The divorce wasn’t finalized until 2016 because Odom was left on life support in 2015 following an overdose at a Nevada brothel. He was found unconscious and suffered 12 seizures while in a coma, leaving Kardashian to make medical decisions as they were still legally married. It was later determined that Odom had cocaine and other drugs in his system. He avoided drug charges in that case.

Odom has been in and out of rehab and recovery since his overdose.

In 2024, after the death of One Direction’s Liam Payne, Odom opened up about his recreational drug use, including his experience with “pink cocaine.”

Speaking to TMZ, Odom confessed he’s taken “every” drug that was detected in Payne’s toxicology report. “Drugs could cause you to hallucinate – I’ve heard voices before,” the professional athlete said. “That’s about it.”

Odom, who was in in recovery for his own substance abuse issues at the time, suggested Payne may have been experiencing hallucinations from the combination of drugs.

On a December 2025 episode of Ian Bick’s podcast, Odom said: “I wish I was never introduced to cocaine or any other narcotic substances stronger than marijuana. I wish I would’ve stopped there. Me doing other drugs gave people the right for judgement. And I could’ve avoided that if I stayed on the straight path.”

Outside of his NBA career, Odom has appeared on Keeping up with the Kardashians and the spinoff series Khloé & Lamar.
