Ashes LIVE: England shoot themselves in the foot to let Aussies build lead

England Ashes hero Jack Leach believes Will Jacks will be relishing this series with no Nathan Lyon for Australia.

Speaking to BBC Test Match Special, he said: “I cannot believe I woke up yesterday and saw that Nathan Lyon was left out. I was so shocked.

“He has such a good record at the Gabba and with the pink ball he is one of the most experienced. I have so much respect for him as a bowler, and he has put us under so much pressure in the past.

“It feels like maybe reacting to how the first Test went and how quickly the game went and expecting a similar pace of the game.

“How the wicket is going, it is playing better than what both teams expected. I am sure Australia would love to have Lyon in that second innings.

“It’s a big role for Will Jacks. For Jacks, it must be nice not to have Lyon play. When I was over there, as a spinner, you have that me against the other spinner. Jacks doesn’t have to worry about that.”
