Snooker scores LIVE with Shaun Murphy v Mark Williams updates from Xi’an final

Mark Williams is on the cusp of snooker history and he could break the late Ray Reardon’s record of being the oldest ranking event winner, should the 50-year-old beat Shaun Murphy in the Xi’an Grand Prix final. The Englishman, however, is in back-to-back finals and will be desperate to claim another victory after taking the British Open title in Cheltenham just a fortnight ago.

Murphy is perhaps the most in-form man in snooker right now and fought back from 3-1 down in the semi-final against Gary Wilson. He made three 130-plus breaks and then clinched his 6-4 victory with a stunning 141. “This vein of form won’t last forever but I am enjoying it,” he said.

Earlier on Sunday, Welsh Potting Machine Williams defeated compatriot Daniel Wells 6-3. Though he admitted that he is not playing at his best, far from the form that took him to the World Championship final earlier this year. “Honestly I don’t know how I’m in the final – I’ve been in no form at all,” the veteran confessed.
