Another Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie child legally changes name after family estrangement

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne has officially changed her surname and will now be known simply as Vivienne Jolie.

The 18-year-old is the fifth of the former couple’s six children to no longer go by “Jolie-Pitt.”

Shiloh, 20, a dancer and the former couple’s eldest biological child, was the first of the siblings to be granted a name change on their 18th birthday in 2024 and now goes by Shiloh Jolie.

In July this year, Maddox, 24, and Zahara, 21, took out newspaper ads to remove the Fight Club actor’s surname from their names.

It is not known whether Vivienne’s twin brother Knox has legally changed his surname, but he did publicly use the name “Knox Jolie” when he graduated from high school in June.

That leaves 24-year-old Pax Jolie-Pitt as the last of the children still using the double-barreled surname. He is reportedly also the only one who remains in contact with Brad’s family.

However, he too has been critical of his father. In 2023, Pax called Brad a “world class asshole” and “f***ing awful human being” in a scathing Father’s Day post.

“You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” wrote the then-16-year-old on his private Instagram account. “You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence.”

He continued: “You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday.”

The family divide came after a 2016 airplane incident in which Brad allegedly got into a heated argument with his wife and children.

Following an FBI investigation into child abuse allegations after the incident, Brad was cleared of all charges. However, a detailed account of what allegedly transpired on the private plane was made public record during the pair’s divorce proceedings in 2022.

According to the documents, Angelina told investigators that Brad’s behavior on a private flight from France to Los Angeles frightened their children, who were between the ages of eight and 15 at the time. The Maleficent actor alleged that Brad lunged at one of their children and that she had to hold him back “in a choke hold.” She filed for divorce the day after the incident, and it was finalized in 2024.

A representative for Brad denied all the claims, and a source within his inner circle said: “It’s frustrating to see Brad being painted as some kind of ‘bad person’ when it’s far from the truth.” The source added to The Sun at the time that Brad has “great respect” for his children, arguing that it “speaks volumes that he chooses to keep a dignified silence” about the situation.

A representative for Brad declined to comment to The Independent.
