Adam Brody has opened up about his beliefs regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Brody plays a rabbi in Nobody Wants This, the rom-com Netflix series that has put him back in the spotlight. The show is loosely based on creator Erin Foster’s experiences of converting to Judaism after meeting her husband.
The actor spoke to GQ ahead of the show’s season three release about his involvement in local politics ahead of the midterm elections. After admitting he hadn’t said much publicly about the ongoing conflict, Brody told the publication: “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”
He continued: “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”
Brody also spoke about Hollywood’s conservatism, saying: “Between COVID, a second Trump term, Israel-Gaza, it’s really brought out some different beliefs that I was ignorant to, and then disheartened by.”
Nobody Wants This follows agnostic sex podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell), who falls in love with newly single rabbi Noah (Brody). It was renewed for a second season within two weeks of its 2024 premiere. Season three is slated for an October 22 release.
Fans were immediately charmed by Brody’s portrayal of the rabbi, a role he wasn’t sure he was going to take on at first.
Despite being Jewish, the 46-year-old told the Los Angeles Times ahead of the show’s premiere: “I didn’t know the first thing about Judaism.”
“I initially winced at the religiosity of it,” he said. “But I came around to being excited by that aspect and going, ‘Well, that’s the different part than me, and that’s what will be fun stuff to research and explore and commit to and play.’”

The Critics Choice Award winner’s comments come days after several Hollywood stars were detained outside of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City as part of a planned protest while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered remarks.
Hacks star and Emmy winner Hannah Einbinder and Thelma & Louise actor Susan Sarandon were among those detained, per the New York Post. It’s unclear if they face charges.
A massive crowd gathered Thursday ahead of Netanyahu’s planned speech as part of an anti-war sit-in protest outside the U.N. organized by Jewish Voice for Peace. Photos showed celebrities and personalities — including Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon, whistleblower Chelsea Manning and comedian Caleb Heron — among hundreds in attendance. Protesters chanted, “Netanyahu you can’t hide, you are wanted for genocide,” while demanding his arrest.
