Djokovic supported by family as wife shares touching message after Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, and his brother, Marko, have sent emotional messages of support after his Wimbledon defeat to Jannik Sinner. The Serb was comfortably beaten 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-finals against world No.1 Sinner on Friday.

The loss extends Djokovic‘s wait for an all-time record 25th Grand Slam title having last won a major at the 2023 US Open. The former world No.1, a seven-time champion at the All England Club, has not lifted the Wimbledon title since a four-set win over Nick Kyrgios in the 2022 final. Djokovic’s last final at SW19 was in 2024 when he lost in straight sets to Carlos Alcaraz.

The Serb won the longest last eight match in Wimbledon history in a gripping five-hour-and-15-minute victory over his Canadian opponent. And Djokovic’s wife has showed her support for the 24-time Grand Slam champion in an Instagram post – sharing a video of her husband with their two children Tara and Stefan at Wimbledon.

Writing in the caption, she said: “I follow you @djokernole,” followed by three love-heart emojis. “Blessed, healthy, together, let’s move on!”

Jelena was not the only family member to show their support for the Serbian great. One of his brothers, Marko, also posted an emotional message on Instagram with several photos of the pair together alongside their other brother Djordje.

The caption said: “I am privileged to know you as the person you are and to have you as a brother. A big heart, a lot of character, generous and always ready to learn and improve, and most importantly, to be a better person.

“Seeing you still playing at the highest level, giving everything you have, and having the opportunity to cheer and support you while you are almost 40 years old, it’s crazy.

“You are an inspiration to many people and a role model for your children. Thank you for being my big brother and for all the love you give me and my family. We love you.”

Djokovic’s next shot at a 25th Slam will come at the US Open in August. It is unclear whether that will be his next tournament with the possibility that he could play one of the lead in Masters 1000 events in Montreal or Cincinnati beforehand.
