Meet Liverpool’s latest summer transfer target Victor Munoz
- Who is he? Victor Munoz looks set to become Liverpool’s newest signing after an agreement was triggered. He’s a 21-year-old forward playing for Osasuna in La Liga and spent time in both the Barcelona and Real Madrid youth set-ups.
- What position does he play? Munoz plays as a winger, predominantly on the left-hand side of attack. He is capable of playing on the opposite side and is known for having a canny eye for goal.
- What is his play style? Munoz has been described as an old-school winger. He has plenty of pace and is very direct with the ball. He’s a danger on the counterattack and can press opposition defences.
- How many goals has he scored? Across the last campaign for Osasuna, Munoz netted seven goals across all competitions and provided a further five assists. During 63 matches for Real Madrid Castilla (the Spanish giant’s second team), Munoz registered 20 goal contributions.
- Who else was in for him? As a former Real Madrid academy player, the record European champions did have a buyback clause in his contract. Barcelona were also said to be considering a move for the La Liga breakout star.
- Is he part of Spain’s World Cup squad? Yes! Munoz is with the Spanish national team in North America for this summer’s World Cup. He was an unused substitute during La Roja’s opening match against Cape Verde.
- When will he join? The transfer window is now open, so a deal could be confirmed any time. Liverpool will return for pre-season next month, with Andoni Iraola’s first match a friendly against Sunderland at the end of the month.
