Lisa Nandy slams ‘arrogant’ Clive Lewis in clash over Makerfield | News

Lisa Nandy has slammed Clive Lewis for displaying “breathtaking arrogance” in a clash over the upcoming Makerfield by-election.

During a debate on Peston on Monday (8 June), the Norwich South MP said that the Labour party in Makerfield is “toxic”, to which the culture secretary heavily disagreed.

Ms Nandy, who lives in Wigan, pulled up her fellow Labour MP on never having visited the constituency, which is gearing up to head to the polls on 18 June.

“You don’t know our community, you’ve never been, and there is a breathtaking arrogance to talking about what communities think and feel when you’ve never met a single one of them,” she said.
