Luke Littler has claimed his girlfriend, Faith Millar, has banned him from completing a dream career move. The darts ace has been dating Millar since last year, and his girlfriend is a regular at competitions Littler is competing in.
However, it would appear she’s put the brakes on the back-to-back world champion achieving a goal of stepping into the ring and competing in a boxing match. Littler admitted he would be keen to compete at a Misfits boxing event, but Millar doesn’t share the same enthusiasm.
The world No.1 had been ringside in Manchester for Daniel Dubois’ clash with Fabio Wardley, with Littler waxing lyrical about the heavyweight contest. But when asked about the possibility of stepping into the ring himself, Littler told The Sun: “I’d love to, but the missus does not want me to. I’d love to. A one-off definitely, on Misfits.”
Littler is an avid boxing fan and raved about the Dubois vs Wardley clash, which the former won in the 11th round, despite an early wobble. Reacting to the contest, he said: “That’s one of the best heavyweight fights you will ever see. It was unbelievable. The first knockdown, in the first round, happened so fast that I didn’t even see it, I was talking to Moses [Itauma]!”
Littler has previously credited his dad for sparking a love of boxing, stating he used to watch big fights with him as a kid. Speaking last year, he said: “What I do, when I’m bored at night, I just go through old boxing fights and stuff like that.”
On the late Ricky Hatton, he added: “And then my dad was talking about it. The fight against Pacquiao and Mayweather where he’s winning it. The ref was splitting it up. Even when we found out (about his passing), I think Chris Dobey and Ross Smith, they both said he was a proper lad.
“I think they said he was at the World Matchplay for years and years on the run, but I never got the chance to meet him. It is sad. His fights have been on Instagram, Facebook, everything’s just full of Ricky. It is sad.”
After his night out in Manchester, Littler will return to the oche on Thursday for night 15 of the Premier League season. Littler, already qualified for the playoffs, sits at the top of the standings and is on the back of three consecutive nightly wins.
