Day three of the Monte Carlo Masters will soon be under way, with plenty of drama served up on day two of the tournament. Former champion Andrey Rublev battled through an injury scare to advance to the second round. However, three-time champion Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered his first-ever opening-round defeat in Monaco, falling to Francisco Cerundolo.
Frenchman Gael Monfils safely progressed to round two, while David Goffin was beaten in his opening match, with World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz emerging courtside to applaud the Belgian off the court. Meanwhile, 2014 champion Stan Wawrinka also bowed out in round one, before bidding farewell to the Principality and making retirement claims.
Elsewhere, Andy Murray has not ruled out taking on a coaching role in the future, following his six-month stint working alongside former rival Djokovic last year. Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu continues to work on her fitness after withdrawing from this week’s WTA 500 tournament in Linz.
