Man Utd transfer news as Cole Palmer details emerge and double swoop prepared

Transfer deadline day has arrived and Manchester United have just hours remaining to complete any deals. The Red Devils must finalise any last-minute business by 7pm this evening. Michael Carrick has enjoyed a flawless beginning to life as manager at Old Trafford, with United securing a thrilling win against Fulham to maintain their impressive run of form.

With solely the Premier League to concentrate on, the coming hours might witness more departures from Old Trafford than arrivals. However, the summer witnessed a late attempt to secure Conor Gallagher on loan, suggesting United could be seeking any 11-hour opportunities. The club still needs to appoint a permanent manager this summer, and Jason Wilcox will undoubtedly face a challenging job with Carrick proving his worth. Express Sport takes a look at the latest news on deadline day…

Loan approach for youngster

Rotherham are preparing to submit a loan bid for United striker Gabriele Biancheri before the transfer deadline, according to Football League World. The South Yorkshire outfit already have United youngster Dan Gore on his second temporary stint at the club.

The Millers have now turned their attention to Biancheri, who can represent Wales, Italy and Canada at international level. The 19-year-old striker joined the Red Devils in 2023 from Cardiff and netted 12 goals in the Under-18 Premier League during 2023/24, before finding the back of the net 22 times across U18 and U21 competitions last term.

Rotherham are seeking a versatile attacker and believe Biancheri meets their requirements, having bagged five goals and three assists in 10 Premier League 2 matches this season.

Cole Palmer transfer details

Prising Cole Palmer away from Chelsea would require a world record transfer fee, according to various reports. The Blues sensation has battled injury problems this year but established himself as the club’s key player during his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea acquired Palmer for a fee in the region of £40million from Manchester City and would demand an astronomical sum to part company with the England international. United have been linked with the talent but would likely be deterred by a fee exceeding the £200m Paris Saint-Germain paid for Neymar.

Double midfield swoop planned

United will launch a ‘very strong’ pursuit of midfielders this summer. The position has remained a priority for the club since the summer, and with Casemiro’s departure confirmed, United will need to strengthen their options, irrespective of who takes charge.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the club might even pursue two fresh midfielders to strengthen their squad. United have been connected with Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Joao Gomes, though none are expected to come at bargain prices this summer.

Leon Goretzka will be available on a free transfer come the summer, with United reportedly showing interest. Romano insists that nothing is ‘advanced’ regarding the German despite United’s drive for midfield reinforcements.
