The January transfer window is into its second week, as business quickly hurtles towards the halfway stage of the market. It’s a typically awkward time to complete deals, but that hasn’t stopped some teams from moving quickly to seal some opportunities to strengthen their teams.
Manchester City are one of the main talking points, having completed the signing of Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth upwards of £60m. Beyond him, there could be a deal on the cards for Marc Guehi, who is now into the final six months under contract at Crystal Palace. Arsenal are the latest club to join the race for his signature, with Liverpool and Man City also linked.
Elsewhere, a tight mid-table may force teams into making a few moves to help their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Tottenham could be the busiest of the bunch, with injuries heavily impacting Thomas Frank’s options for the short-term.
And, of course, there are those battling against relegation. West Ham have already been the busiest of the lot, landing two new forwards for Nuno Espirito Santo, as they look to close a seven-point gap that has them staring down the barrel at a possible return to the Championship.
