Former Leeds United and Wales footballer Terry Yorath has died at the age of 75, following a short battle with illness. He had four children, including presenter Gabby Logan, along with Daniel, Louise and Jordan. Daniel died from the genetic heart condition hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at the age of 15 in 1992.
The ex-midfielder is best known for his spell with ‘The Whites’ at Elland Road, where he made nearly 200 appearances in the 1960s and 1970s. That led to a 1974 First Division triumph, while he was also the first Welshman to play in a European Cup final.
Yorath went on to play for Coventry, Tottenham, Bradford, and Swansea before transitioning into management on a full-time basis. The 75-year-old was lauded as a hero for the Welsh national team, making 59 appearances for the side, before going on to manage them.
Famous wins over Brazil and Germany would live long in the memory, before his eventual departure for failing to qualify for the 1994 World Cup. Yorath also had management spells with Swansea, Cardiff, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, the Lebanon national team, and Margate.
As the football world reflects on the loss of another great, here’s a look at his career in pictures.
