The two of them join John Stones in the treatment room, meaning City’s centre-back depth is worringly low ahead of the second half of the season.
Guardiola essentially confirmed Stones will likely leave the club at the end of the season, while Nathan Ake’s future also remains in doubt.
It means the Blues will probably need to purchase at least one centre-back in the summer, so why not bring it forward by six months or so?
Sure, they might have to pay a little bit over the £35million Liverpool agreed to pay for Guehi in the previous summer, but the Englishman is likely worth double that in normal circumstances, so by overpaying, City could still land themselves a pretty good deal!
