When asked if he thought he would never win a title, Lisowski said: “Yeah, every day. I’d go on Instagram or Twitter and someone’s messaging me pretty much every day saying, ‘You’re never going to win a ranking title.’
“I don’t know why, because I don’t say, ‘Yeah, I’m so good, I’m going to win everything.’ I’m quite a humble guy, I’m just happy to have one now.
“But yeah, this has been my dream since I was so young, I’ve got so many people in my corner that have supported me up to this moment.
“I’ve got my dad’s socks on today. When he passed away, the first thing I said was, ‘He never saw me win a ranking title, but my friends said you can do it for your mum.’
“So this one’s for him if he’s watching down and my mum. The support you’ve given me…I’m 34, my mum still picks me up when I’m down. My uncle Gary is with me every day.
“My girlfriend Bella, this is the first tournament she’s come too – she just hasn’t got a clue about the rules or anything. Not every gam is like this babe, trust me.”
