More details have now emerged on Morgan Gibbs-White, who recently penned a lucrative new Nottingham Forest deal.
Earlier in the window, Gibbs-White found himself at the middle of a very awkward storm, in that Tottenham had reportedly gained inside knowledge from people around him that a release clause existed, and they then lodged a bid of around this figure directly with Forest.
Or so everyone believed.
The Telegraph, who initially revealed that Spurs had triggered the player’s supposed ‘secret’ release clause, now report that Tottenham actually fell short of activating a number of conditions.
Forest’s controversial owner Evangelos Marinakis flew to Portugal on Thursday to oversee Gibbs-White signing a new contract. He succeeded by making the player the highest-paid in the club’s history and, crucially, without a release clause added into the mix.
