Manchester United icon Gary Pallister believes Diogo Dalot’s loan move to AC Milan in the 2020/21 sparked his Old Trafford career to life.
Dalot has faced a barrage of criticism after his almost costly red card in Sunday’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal.
However, Pallister has offered his support, reminding frustrated supporters of his electric display against Liverpool in the previous match.
“Well, it’s not natural for him, is it, on the left-hand side? I mean, listen, I think he was fantastic against Liverpool the other week,” Pallister told Express Sport with Betano.
“They obviously pinpointed that left-sided area where Trent was playing right back, and I’ve got to say he destroyed Trent on the day.
“I think he’s been a really good player for Manchester United. He’s covered a multitude of roles. He’s been very professional.
“And after his early days, where I think he struggled, I think since he came back from the loan [at Milan], he’s been one of our most consistent performers.
“So I have no issue with Diogo Dalot. I think he’s a good player and a player I would think that Ruben Amorim would look to keep.”
