Man Utd plot transfer sale of £153m stars as Liverpool suffer Mo Salah blow

Wolves are weighing up a bid for Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga in the January transfer window.

The former Tottenham star has been a revelation since joining the Lions permanently in July, starting all bar three of their Championship games and scoring twice. Wolves have now earmarked him as one of the second tier’s standout talents.

Millwall do not want to sell their star centre-back this winter, but Express Sport understands there is an agreement between Tanganga and the club to at least consider Premier League interest.

The London side’s position means Wolves manager Vitor Pereira is unlikely to get Tanganga on the cheap as he battles to stave off relegation.

Tanganga is enjoying his football at Millwall, having played a bit-part role at Spurs and endured a torrid loan spell at Augsburg last season. The 25-year-old is happy to see out 2024/25 at The Den but there is a feeling he will be at a top-flight club by the start of next campaign if his sparkling form continues.

RB Leipzig – the German side affiliated with RB Salzburg and Leeds United – have also been tracking Tanganga, although the player would be more tempted by a return to the Premier League.
