Rublev bleeds after wild meltdown as Djokovic retirement date tipped

Alex De Minaur has admitted that he is playing through ‘mental battles’ in Paris this week.

The Australian has been struggling with injuries over the past few months and is therefore under pressure to qualify for the ATP Finals for the first time in his career.

De Minaur will therefore need to perform well in France to keep his hopes alive, which he has revealed is forcing him to play through pain.

He said: “It’s causing instability in a couple of different areas, so I feel it in the adductor a little bit, and a little bit higher up, near the pubis, so it’s not an easy one.”

He added: “There are a lot of mental battles going on while I’m trying to play these matches, and I’m trying to find different ways of competing with what I’ve got. The end goal, obviously, is Turin and trying to make it there, and every day I’m feeling a little bit better, which is a positive.”
