Portugal ace floored by steward as UEFA Euro 2024 security farce takes turn

Paris Saint-Germain star Goncalo Ramos was wiped out by a steward following Portugal’s victory over Turkey at Euro 2024 on Saturday evening.

The striker was an unused substitute at the Signal Iduna Park, though that didn’t prevent him from being caught up in the action after the full-time whistle sounded.

Footage showed that as the forward trudged off of the pitch after congratulating teammates on their victory, Ramos was wiped out by a steward who had lost his footing as he looked to prevent pitch invaders from making their way towards the Portugal team.

The clip showed that one individual was brought down by a steward before getting within touching distance of the players, with another member of staff donning a hi-vis jacket racing towards the incident to support his colleague.

However, as he ran past Ramos, he slipped and collided heavily with the Portuguese international.

The steward then returned to his feet and ran towards the pitch invader, with Ramos hobbling away from the pitch after taking a significant impact to the leg – which he will be hoping doesn’t impact his playing time at the overall competition in Germany.

Several members of the crowd managed to make their way onto the field during the latter stages of the Group F clash, in what was a sore note for the overall match to finish on given that Roberto Martinez’s side had impressed.

Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva had opened the scoring in the 21st minute after good work from Nuno Mendes down the left. Portugal then doubled their lead effortlessly seven minutes later thanks to a bizarre own goal from Samet Akaydin.
