Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS-backed investment in United has been ratified by the Football Association and the Premier League. As part of their purchase of 25 per cent shares in the club, INEOS are widely expected to take control of United’s sporting operation.
Manchester City CEO Omar Berrada will join the Red Devils later this year. Other key figures, including a sporting director will be appointed when Ratcliffe formally begins work next week.
Ten Hag insists he will not be involved in the appointment of senior football staff. However, he has listed the traits he wants to see in any individual who joins the club.
The Dutchman says it is important that new figures agree about the club’s philosophy, tactics and the profile of players needed to make a successful team. According to Ten Hag, they must also be good communicators.
“I think it is very important you are on one page about football philosophy, about football tactics, about the profiles of the players you need in the team so it is very important to have very good communication so you get the right players,” Ten Hag said when asked about potential arrivals within the club’s hierarchy.
“It is one of the most important factors to develop a good team, that you have the right players but also the right characters.
“That means you have to do the right work and be aligned and it’s a long process to get the right players in.”
Ten Hag is adamant that new appointments are not his decision to make. He revealed that plans are already being made for the summer transfer window.
