Entertainment was the key word on Thursday as Stephen Bunting, Josh Cullen and Chris Dobey fought their way through to round four in the afternoon session, while Brendan Dolan, Luke Humphries and Daryl Gurney followed suit in the evening.
Gerwyn Price’s defeat to Dolan was undoubtedly the shock of the day, with the Welshman missing numerous opportunities on doubles before losing 4-2. And third seed Humphries almost joined him in heading for the exit door, coming back from 3-1 down to defeat crowd favourite Ricardo Pietreczko.
Today could be a huge one with Raymond van Barneveld, Gary Anderson, Michael van Gerwen and reigning world champion Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith all in action before the curtain closes.
