Jadon Sancho has ‘secret desire’ as Man Utd swap deal mooted after Ten Hag row

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho reportedly has a ‘secret desire’ to rebuild his career despite speculation linking him with a return to Borussia Dortmund, it has been claimed. Sancho has been exiled by Erik ten Hag since September after the pair were embroiled in a public spat.

Sancho has refused to apologise to Ten Hag after the winger claimed he had been made a ‘scapegoat’ for United’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal earlier this season. The United boss publicly revealed that he was unhappy with the player’s training performance, prompting him to omit him from the matchday squad.

The England international has since been banished from the first-team squad. He is unable to train with his team-mates and eats separately from his colleagues.

A January exit seems a likely conclusion to a bitter episode. It is unclear if an apology at this stage would tempt Ten Hag into reintegrating Sancho into the senior set-up at Old Trafford.

But according to Sky in Germany, Sancho harbours a ‘secret desire’ to rekindle his United career. It comes with some reports linking him with a return to Borussia Dortmund, where he became one of Europe’s brightest prospects before joining the Red Devils in the summer of 2021.

There has been speculation that Sancho might return to the German outfit with attacker Donyell Malen heading in the opposite direction. However, the report adds that while Malen is keen to leave Dortmund, United are not yet considering a move for the former Arsenal talent.

Sancho is reportedly open to returning to Dortmund but his priority will be to fight for his place at Old Trafford. It is unclear if a move, either a full transfer or a part-exchange involving Malen, is financially viable for either club.
