“It was much of the same that happened against Bournemouth a week and a half ago. He has had it before too,” Sand said to the same outlet. “He gets a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly.
“Now he will receive some treatment, then there will be peace and rest and then we will see how he is tomorrow morning. We have already spoken to City. Erling has spoken to both City and [chief doctor] Mario [Pafundi] already.”
There is no indication yet as to just how severe Haaland’s injury is, but Guardiola will be anxious to find out the extent of the problem with their vital clash with Liverpool just over a week away.
Haaland has struck 13 goals in 12 games this season and notched twice in the 4-4 draw with Chelsea. He missed the 4-1 win over the Reds last season with a groin problem and will no doubt be desperate to recover in time.
