Devoted Kate said Derek Draper was left “fighting for his life again” in intensive care.

Kate, 55, who plans to return to ITV’s Good Morning Britain today, posted online: “Derek’s health took an unexpected & frightening turn for the worse.

“Thanks to the extraordinary NHS teams & his own amazing life force & spirit Derek — please God — is back on the right side of it now.”

A pal confirmed Derek, 54, who fell ill three weeks ago, was out of intensive care and “battling on”.

Derek, who spent longer in hospital with Covid — 13 months — than any other Brit, has children Darcey, 16, and Billy, 13, with Kate.

The UK Sepsis Trust says a fifth of Covid patients get sepsis in the year following discharge from hospital and a fifth of those die.
