TEMPLEGATE takes on a really busy Tuesday of action confident of landing a blow on the bookies.

There is a load of action from England, Scotland and Ireland, where the star-studded Punchestown Festival gets underway.

Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott and Co will wheel out their big guns in the search of riches.

Our man Templegate has gone through all the cards and picked out his most fancied runners.

You can see his race-by-race guide to Punchestown below.

Don’t forget you can back a horse simply by clicking their odds – good luck!

KHATWAH (3.30 Nottingham, nap)

She scooted in at Donny on Saturday and can strike again over the same trip. She likes it fast and can defy a penalty.

IUR CINN TRA (5.15 Nottingham, nb)

He clocked a personal best when winning on his last run and is a fair 4lb higher here. He can improve again.

ESPRESSOO (7.25 Ayr, treble)

He was promising last season and can show more over this longer distance.

Punchestown Festival day one tips

3.40

DINOBLUE won on debut and was an excellent fourth in a Fairyhouse Grade 1 earlier this month. The drop in trip is fine and he’s hard to beat.

Party Central won a big Leopardstown handicap and wasn’t disgraced at Cheltenham, while Instit was a bit unlucky at Limerick and looks capable of better.

4.15

SIR GERHARD was awesome when following his Dublin Racing Festival win with an impressive Ballymore success at Cheltenham.

He has enough pace to cope with this shorter distance and has more to offer.

Dysart Dynamo went off far too quickly in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and was well beaten when falling.

He was an easy scorer here before that and can bounce back but he needs more to beat his stablemate.

Mighty Potter is clear third best having won a Grade 1 at Christmas.

4.50

SIT DOWN LUCY can outrun her odds after a decent third at Limerick last time. She has no weight thanks to her rider’s claim and has run well here before.

Glan had a bit left in the tank when scoring at Fairyhouse and looks the form pick.

Ardla is consistent and is another threat over an ideal course and distance along with Farout who had no luck in running behind Glan after a decent run at Cheltenham.

5.25

ENERGUMENE didn’t have much to beat in the Champion Chase after Shishkin went wrong but he did it well and won the big novice contest at this meeting last year.

Chacun Pour Soi will put up a bold defence of his title but had a rare blip when unseating at Cheltenham and needs his very best.

Andy Dufresne can take third on the back of his placed effort in the Grand Annual last month.

6.00

CALDWELL POTTER was an expensive buy from the family of Mighty Potter and can give Gordon Elliott a third win in four runnings.

Jamie Codd’s a bonus in the saddle. Willie Mullins’ Rocco Ray is bred to be useful and looks the main danger.

6.35

BOB OLINGER wasn’t right when a lucky winner of the Golden Miller at Cheltenham but he wouldn’t have to be at his best to land another Grade 1.

He should enjoy this longer distance and has won here before.

Millers Bank was impressive at Aintree and can hit the frame at a big price ahead of Capodanno who would like it a bit softer.

Fury Road had a hard race at Liverpool just 18 days ago.

7.10

Enda Bolger regularly wins this and has a good chance with DE NORDENER who has shown strong form in the pointing field.

He’ll be ready for this first run under Rules.

Good Bye Sam is the clear threat after an easy hunter win for Tramore.

Beyond Redemption ran well at last year’s meeting and can hit the frame at big odds.

7.45

LISNAGAR FORTUNE has the right profile on debut for Willie Mullins. He’s a half-brother to Lisnagar Oscar who will know his job.

Firm Footings is bred to be high-class and is another likely debutant for Gordon Elliott. Ceroc looks the pick of those who have seen a racecourse.
