And deep into the second set as he battled to keep the match alive, Wolf delivered his magical moment.

The pair traded blows in a scintillating baseline rally.

But despite finding great depth using his regular right-handed forehand, Wolf was pinned into the back-right corner by a crunching Tsitsipas shot.

The 23-year-old looped the ball back into the mid-court before the Greek star stepped in, flashing a backhand into the other corner.

But as Wolf was at full stretch and sliding for what would have been a difficult two-handed backhand, he dropped his favoured right hand off the handle.

That allowed him to get extra reach and, using just his left hand near the throat of the racket, he flashed the left-handed forehand up the line.

The ball whizzed past a stunned Tsitsipas at the net and caught the baseline – cue a crazy reaction from all around.

Wolf celebrated wildly by punching the air emphatically and roaring loudly as Tsitsipas gave a hand signal, appearing to sportingly acknowledge the greatness.

The commentator enthusiastically called it: “Ohhh no way! That is unbelievable from JJ Wolf.”

One man in the crowd simply stood in shock with his hands on his head, barely able to comprehend what just happened.

The commentator added: “And that reaction says it all – he cannot believe what he has just seen.”

Wolf’s piece of sheer genius put him 0-30 ahead at 5-5 in the second set – but he could not find the break.

The world No167, who lost to Brit Liam Broady in Australian Open qualifying in January, did level the match by taking the tiebreak.

‘TAKE A BOW’

However, Tsitsipas found the extra edge in the deciding set to win 6-4 6-7 6-1 after two hours on court in Florida.

But it was Wolf who won over a legion of new tennis fans for his outrageous skill.

One said: “Shot of the year. I’ve never anything like this on a tennis court, never for sure. Take a bow JJ Wolf.”

Another wrote: “I have made a shot with my non-dominant hand but this is just mad!”

And a third added: “Man, that’s one of the best shots ever.”
