Oscars 2022: When are the awards and full list of nominations

he Oscars is the film industry’s biggest extravaganza of the year.

Excitement has been building around the potential nominations ahead of the shortlist being released in early February.

Every year the prestigious awards ceremony attracts a whole galaxy of Hollywood stars and the A-list put on a show-stopping display on the red carpet.

Here is everything you need to know about the Oscars 2022.

When will the Oscars 2022 nominations be announced?

The Oscars 2022 nominations will be announced on Tuesday, February 8.

All nominees will be announced at the specific time of 1.18pm UK time.

Voting for nominations ended on February 1.

In the past the Academy livestreamed this event with remote celeb hosts.

March 7 will see a nominations luncheon where fellow nominees pose for a class photo as per tradition. Guests are yet to be confirmed.

When is the Oscars 2022 taking place?

This year’s Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 27.

It is the second consecutive year the film industry’s biggest night has been delayed.

The showbiz event usually is hosted every February.

The glittering awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Who are the favourites to win in the Oscars 2022?

Among the films tipped for Oscars success are Sir Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographical drama Belfast and Netflix’s Western The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Branagh could be in the running for best director opposite Jane Campion for The Power of the Dog, while Cumberbatch is among the favourites to carry away best actor.

Cumberbatch faces competition from other big names including Will Smith for his portrayal of the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard.

The critics have also been impressed by Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story.

Science-fiction epic Dune and Daniel Craig’s last outing as Bond, No Time To Die, will be expected to feature in the nominations.

How can I watch the Oscars?

Last year’s ceremony was shown live on the Sky Cinema Oscars channel.

But it has not been confirmed how UK fans will be able to watch it this year.
