Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Latest updates from the Emirates

ARSENAL have reportedly begun talks with Wolves over the signing of Ruben Neves.

The Molineux club remain confident of keeping the midfielder, who they rate at £40million, and Manchester United are also keen to sign the 24-year-old.

The Gunners are still reported to be keen on Juventus’ Arthur Melo, but sources claim the Old Lady’s demand of an 18-month loan plus £40m has been deemed excessive by some at the Emirates.

Calum Chambers has completed his move to Aston Villa, raising the prospect of Mikel Arteta having funds to make a late transfer this month.

And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appears to have no future at the club after Mikel Arteta left him out of his squad for warm weather training in Dubai.

In response, the former captain is said to have offered himself to Barcelona.

That could leave the North Londoners short of strikers, with top target Dusan Vlahovic reportedly favouring a move to Juventus.

While out-of-favour topper Bernt Leno is being eyed up by Newcastle.

  • Toon chief in Brazil now

It doesn’t look like Arsenal will be signing Bruno Guimaraes, who has been linked with the Gunners in recent weeks.

Thats because Newcastle’s Head of Recruitment Steve Nixon is in Brazil TODAY to wrap up a deal for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to Sky Sports.

He will now undergo a medical later this afternoon ahead of a £40m move to the Magpies.

The initial bid is £33.5m, with a further £6.5m in add-ons, and sees the Gunners miss out on a man they had been targeting, with Mikel Arteta still desperately short of options in midfield.

  • Official approaches for Aubameyang received

Barcelona and Juventus have both offered to take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on loan until the end of the season.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim Juve have made the proposal despite signing Dusan Vlahovic.

But Alvaro Morata’s future is thought to have an impact on where the £350,000-per-week forward will end up.

Morata is currently at Juventus, and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Were that to be the case, a move to Juve seems more likely, but if Morata stays put in Turin, then a move to Barca is the likelier outcome.

  • Toon enter Calvert-Lewin tussle

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set to find himself in the middle of a transfer battle as Newcastle enter the race for his signature.

The Telegraph reports manager Eddie Howe could be about to add the 24-year-old to his redesigned forward line after the recent arrival of Chris Wood from Burnley.

But the Toon face competition from Arsenal, who have a long-standing interest in the England man.

The Gunners are desperate to land a goalscorer before the January transfer window slams shut next week.

They had their fingers burned in their pursuit of Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who instead signed for Serie A giants Juventus this month.

  • Merson – Arsenal ‘One signing’ from title challenge

Paul Merson has hit back at Piers Morgan, who, writing for The Sun, suggested Arsenal should sack Mikel Arteta if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Merson however reckons the Gunners are ‘one signing away’ from challenging for the title.

The ex-Gunner wrote in The Star: “Piers Morgan is living in the past saying Arsenal should sack Mikel Arteta if they don’t finish in the top four.

“They’re one signing away from being title contenders next season if they can the goalscorer they need – and they have the money to do it.

“I know where Piers is coming from when they’re playing once a week, and they’re basically out of every competition already this season.

“But this is a young team. This is what you’re going to get. They will play unbelievably one week and then be awful the next.

“It’s like a bag or Revels. You never know what you’re going to get. But young players are up and down. They’re inconsistent.”

  • Arsenal sill keen on Neves

Roma’s pursuit of Granit Xhaka frees up Arsenal to go all out for Ruben Neves.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim that the Gunners are ‘in negotiations’ with Wolves over a move for Neves.

Although the West Midlanders have always been firm in their stance that he’s not for sale.

But with Xhaka once again linked with a move to Roma, Arsenal could find themselves with some extra cash on their hands.

  • Two former Gunners combining

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira was persuaded to make a move for Donny van de Beek by old Arsenal pal Dennis Bergkamp, according to reports.

The Eagles have launched an ambitious loan bid for Manchester United’s £39million midfielder.

Vieira, 45, wants to add some extra European experience to his youthful Palace squad, and thanks to his girlfriend’s dad, Van de Beek may fit the bill.

The 24-year-old is in a long-term relationship with Estelle Bergkamp, daughter of Gunners legend Dennis.

According to Sky Sports, it is Dennis that feels that Palace would be the perfect destination.

They claim that he chatted to former Highbury team-mate Vieira – convincing the Frenchman to launch a bid.

  • Reasons for Vlahovic move explained

Dusan Vlahovic’s agent has explained why his client decided to join Juventus, rather than a move to the Premier League.

Football Italia claim Darko Ristic said: “Juventus are always Juventus,” in response to questions on Vlahovic’s move.

He’s currently undergoing a medical with the Old Lady, ahead of a £58m move from Fiorentina.

  • USA boss confirms Turner deal

Reports emerged earlier that Arsenal had agreed a deal for New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner to join the club at the end of the season.

The fee is believed to be close to £6million, and has been confirmed by USA boss Gregg Berhalter.

He told SBI Soccer: “He [Turner] went to Fairfield University, was undrafted out of college, now he’s playing with the national team and he’s headed to Arsenal.”

  • More on Vlahovic ‘smokescreen’ reports

Arsenal reportedly offered up to £88MILLION for Dusan Vlahovic’s services this month.

But Mikel Arteta was stunned to see his main target reject his overtures and instead opt for a move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Now ESPN reports Arsenal bigwigs believe their interest may have been used as a ‘smokescreen’ by Fiorentina to agree the Juve deal.

The Florence club have a long-standing rivalry with their Turin-based foes, with their fans far from impressed at the Vlahovic deal.

The Gunners fear they may have been used as cover for the negotiations, with Vincenzo Italiano’s side never realistically considering selling to them.

The Vlahovic saga has left Arteta worried he could come away from the January window empty-handed.

  • Gunners in Kulusevski boost

Arsenal have been named as the club ‘above all’ others who would suit Juventus wideman Dejan Kulusevski.

The Gunners were linked with Kulusevski late last year, with rumours now starting to resurface.

Kulusveski is deemed surplus to requirements at Juve, but the club are not keen on sending him to Serie A rivals AC Milan.

As a result, respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has listed Arsenal as a possible destination.

And after the big money signing of Dusan Vlahovic, Juve may be forced into parting ways with some players before the end of the window.

  • Youngster heads out on loan

Gunners defender Ryan Alebiosu is reportedly set to join League One side Crew Alexandra on loan until the end of the season.

Arsenal have given the green light to go out and gain some first team experience in the EFL, according to Football Insider.

Alebiosu is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal, but was on the bench for the 0-0 draw against Burnley last week.

  • Chambers excited for Villa switch

Calum Chambers has described his decision to join Aston Villa as a ‘no brainer’, as he links up with former Gunners colleague Emi Martinez.

Speaking on the move, Chambers said: “It was a chance to really kick on for myself in my career.

“That was one of the main reasons why Villa was so perfect for me. That was one of the decisions to come here.

“I can’t wait to get training, get playing and be in and amongst it and get my first game at Villa Park. I am extremely excited. It is a massive club and they are in a great moment. Everyone can see that from the outside.

“Things are happening here and the club is definitely moving in the right direction. For me it was a no-brainer.

“It is great club and it was the right thing for me to do.”

  • Another Gunners in Gakpo blow

Arsenal have been dealt another transfer blow after PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo signed a new deal until 2026.

According to Footmercato, Liverpool and the Gunners were leading the race for Gakpo’s signature during the January transfer window.

The North Londoners are in immense need of a new striker with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of favour, and both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah free agents this summer.

However, PSV have released an official statement confirming the versatile forward has put pen to paper on a one-year extension with the club.

That means a January bid appears to have been ruled out, but Eindhoven hinted that a summer deal is not impossible.

They stated that the Netherlands international will stay ‘for the remainder of the season’.

  • Roma still in for Xhaka

Jose Mourinho could still land long-term target Granit Xhaka from Arsenal this month after failing to sign the midfielder in the summer.

Outlets in Italy now suggest Mourinho is back in for the 29-year-old and hopes to land him before the transfer window slams shut next week.

But both Corriere dello Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport say Mourinho will have to offload a player before he is able to bring in his man.

A likely candidate is Amadou Diawara, but the Guinea international has already rejected a move to Valencia.

The 24-year-old reportedly earns around £1.8million a year and finding a buyer to match his wages is proving difficult.

Arsenal are thought to have slapped a £16.6m price tag on Xhaka, with Roma prepared to pay in instalments to match that.

  • Vlahovic arrives for Juve medical

Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic has arrived in Turin to undergo his Juventus medical.

He’s expected to take the No28 shirt, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A £58million deal is understood to have been agreed for the 21-year-old, with the Gunners missing out on their top winter target.

  • Saliba not ruling out exit

William Saliba has revealed how he was given a rude awakening on his arrival at Arsenal back in July 2019.

He is yet to play for the senior side and last summer was shipped off to Marseille on loan.

Now the 20-year-old has admitted his time in the reserves was like a ‘slap in the face’ and hasn’t ruled out a permanent move away from the Emirates.

He told RMC: “Before going to Arsenal, I said to myself I was going to play, I was sure, I was wondering who I would play alongside.

“I arrive, I play zero matches. I played for the U23s. That gave me a good slap.

“Things go so fast in football. I don’t want to think about the future. I am going to give my all. Then there will be discussions in summer.”

  • Arsenal used as a ‘smokescreen’

Chiefs at Arsenal have reportedly been left livid after Dusan Vlahovic agreed a deal to sign for Juventus.

According to ESPN, there is the belief at Arsenal they were used as a ‘smokescreen’ to negotiate a transfer to Juventus.

The Gunners had been strongly linked with the 21-year-old before he opted to join Juventus.

Mikel Arteta is in desperate need of a new striker, something that Vlahovic, who scored 33 Serie A goals in 2021, would have provided.

  • Arteta’s striker woes continue

Arsenal are running out of time if they want to bring in a striker before the end of the transfer window.

And according to ESPN, things aren’t getting any easier for the Gunners.

The club face a race against time to bring someone new in, having missed out on Dusan Vlahovic.

The Gunners have also been linked with Alexander Isak, but will have to be Real Sociedad his whopping £75million release clause.

Lille forward Jonathan David is another option, but the French club don’t want to do business until the summer.

It leaves Mikel Arteta out of options, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang frozen out, and Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both intent on leaving.

  • Romano – Turner a ‘done deal’

Matt Turner’s move to Arsenal from MLS side New England Revolution is a ‘done deal’, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

    The shot-stopper will join in a £5.8million deal, with a further £2.3m in add-ons.

But he won’t officially link-up with the Gunners until the summer.

  • Wilshere still eyeing Prem return

Jack Wilshere still believes that he can play in the Premier League.

The former England ace last turned out in the top flight for West Ham around 18 months ago, and was released by Championship outfit Bournemouth in the summer.

Having failed to join a new club, Wilshere was invited to train with former side Arsenal by ex team-mate Mikel Arteta.

And having been working with the Gunners since October, Wilshere believes that his game is still up to scratch at Premier League level.

He told the Mail: “I always said when I went back to Arsenal that I would make a decision about my next step at the end of January.

“When you’ve been out the game, you never know which way it will go. But it has convinced me that my playing career isn’t over.

“The manager is top class, and I wouldn’t still be training with the first team if I was bringing the standard down or couldn’t keep up.”

  • Good morning Arsenal fans

Aston Villa completed the shock signing of Calum Chambers from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old defender has penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with Steven Gerrard’s side.

And according to Express reporter Ryan Taylor’s understanding, Arsenal received just £2million for Chambers.

But the deal also includes performance bonuses.

The Gunners have also missed out on Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic, who is set to undergo a medical at Juventus.

Some better news… Arsenal are closing in on signing a new goalkeeper.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Matt Turner or New England Revolution is set to make the move in the summer.

  • Wolves confident on keeping Neves

Wolves are standing firm in their efforts to keep hold of Ruben Neves and are confident he will not leave this summer.

SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this month that Manchester United were determined to sign the 24-year-old midfielder.

The Red Devils hoped a bid of around £35m would be enough to lure the Portuguese international to Old Trafford.

But that is yet to materialise with Wolves said to be willing to consider offers of £40m-£45m and above to part ways with their most talented player.

And SunSport understands Wolves are now confident they can keep hold of Neves until the summer at least – and hope qualifying for Europe could even convince him to stay.

With Arsenal also interested, it really would take an extraordinary offer for him to now leave the club with the January window shutting on Monday night.

  • Chambers fee

According to Express reporter Ryan Taylor’s understanding, Arsenal received just £2million for Chambers.

But the deal also includes performance bonuses.

    Happy with that, Arsenal fans?
