Greggs has reopened for indoor service

You’re only ever a four minute walk from a Greggs when in a town centre – here’s what you need to know if you’re popping into one today.

There are a number of rules customers need to follow to minimise the spread of Covid.

Is Greggs open?

Greggs branches have reopened for indoor dining, and you can still buy food to takeaway.

Customers have been allowed to sit inside at hospitality venues since lockdown restrictions were relaxed on May 17.

Toilets have also reopened at Greggs branches.

What time is Greggs open?

The majority of Greggs branches are open but hours may be subject to change at your local branch and they vary by store.

You can check the hours for your area using Greggs’ shop finder tool.

Many shops open as early as 6am and some can close as late as 10pm.

What safety rules are there at Greggs?

If you’re heading to a Greggs to pick up food to take away, you’ll need to follow some rules.

These are designed to keep you, other customers and the staff safe during the pandemic and to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The rules include:

  • Only one adult per household in the shop at one time (children can join if needed)
  • Follow floor markings which help keep people at a safe distance
  • Keep a two metre distance from others
  • Pay with card or contactless where possible
  • Wear face masks or coverings unless seated

What is on the Greggs menu?

Similar to other fast food chains, Greggs has reduced its menu so you might find that some favourites are missing.

This is because it’s keen to make things as safe as possible for staff.

Greggs is yet to confirm which items are still to come back though, so we’ll update this article once we hear back.

In the meantime, there is still a fairly large range of food available, from sandwiches, hot snacks, sweet treats and drinks.

Several of the bakery’s favourite items are also back, including sausage rolls and steak bakes.

Because of the pandemic, Greggs is now offering click and collect so you can avoid queuing to order.

It first rolled out the service nationwide last summer when reopening following the first lockdown.

Customers can use their Greggs rewards account to login and order click and collect if they already have one.

You can get delivery through Just Eat, though there is a delivery fee which will add to the cost. How much this is can vary from place to place but you’ll see the price before you pay for the order.

You can use the Greggs store finder to see the ordering options at your local store. including click and collect, Just Eat delivery and even drive-thru in some locations.

How is Greggs protecting its customers from coronavirus?

In addition to the safety rules aimed at customers above,  workers will be doing 30-minute cleans of all equipment and key touch points to make sure the stores remain hygienic and virus-free.

All staff have undergone social distancing training prior to returning to work and Greggs has marked out zones on the floor so they can keep in check.

Greggs has also given each worker a specific role so they don’t have to cross paths with someone else.

PPE has also been given to workers.

Greggs has revamped its loyalty app and you can get free food with it.

Meanwhile, here are the latest supermarket lockdown rules for Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl, Sainsbury’s and M&S.

As non-essential shops reopen, shoppers have been warned to return items to stores ASAP ahead of extended returns policies ending.
