India will be aiming to build on their lead against England on Day 2 of the ongoing third Test match, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In response to England’s 112, the hosts are five wickets down and currently have Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin batting for them. The duo will be aiming to build a stable partnership. Earlier on Day 2, the hosts lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane to Jack Leach. Rohit also registered a half-century. On Day 1, Indian spinners bamboozled the visiting batsmen, with Axar Patel taking six wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin registering three dismissals. Also, Ishant Sharma, who is in his 100th Test match, took a wicket. Also, Rohit built a 64-run partnership with Virat Kohli, but the Indian captain was dismissed late in the day. (LIVE SCORECARD)

    Day 1 ended with the departure of Virat Kohli, who scored 27 off 58 balls. He and Rohit Sharma had built a stable partnership and were anchoring India’s innings, but Jack Leach had other plans. Rohit has already registered a half-century, and will be attempting to stitch together a strong partnership with Ajinkya Rahane.

    The Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper will be aiming for a ton, but it won’t be easy. England could be batting again by Dinner time, or India could be close to 300 runs. Only time will tell!

The first day saw England win the toss and choose to bat, but India’s spinners ran circles around them, bundling them out for 112. A Rohit Sharma half-century meant India finished the day trailing England by just 13 runs, but England will be happy to have got the big wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli.
