This full-time, permanent post is available immediately on the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus.
Summary of the role
You will be an integral member of the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) group in the College of Engineering, Mathematics & Physical Sciences. The primary focus of this post is to manage the day-to-day operational delivery of technical and engineering services to the Dynamic Marine Component (DMaC) Test Facility, which is currently based at Falmouth Docks.
You will join a strong research group in offshore renewable energy and will be involved in a range of engineering activities providing technical assistance supporting academics in the delivery of projects; and the management of DMAC facility. Much of the group’s work activities have a design / build / operate context. Applicants will have extensive knowledge in mechanical engineering; good level in IT and some electrical competence; and be skilled in project management. We would wish the successful candidate to be responsible for a range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options and the handling of data sets, as well as developing and implementing independently test procedures at the DMaC.
Furthermore, you will work with collaborating business partners and organisations to fulfil the research, development and innovation (RD&I) activities of the ORE group. You will work closely with appointed academic leads, business partners, delivery partners, and members of the University’s Impact, Innovation and Business (IIB) directorate to discharge the commercially-facing requirements of the DMAC facility.
