Research Associate in Emergency Care

About Us: This is an opportunity for a developing researcher to join the Research in Emergency Care, Avon Collaborative Hub (REACH), based in the Centre for Health and Clinical Research at UWE Bristol. The REACH initiative aligns researchers from the two Universities in Bristol with direct links to other relevant networks such as Health Integration Teams, NHS commissioners, health and care providers, and others across the wider Southwest, in close collaboration with patient and public groups. For more information see: https://www.bristolhealthpartners.org.uk/reach/

About You: You will join the collaboration as a Research Associate and will work as part of the UWE Emergency Care Research Theme to support REACH-adopted research. The team is currently working on a variety of funded research projects in urgent, emergency and pre-hospital care (https://www.uwe.ac.uk/research/centres-and-groups/chcr/research-themes/emergency-care). You will provide support for ongoing work and contribute to the development of new research initiatives that directly align with existing and emerging priorities.

You should have recent experience of conducting research within the National Health Service (NHS). You will involve day-to-day coordination/administration, database management and contact with researchers and clinicians. You will be expected to manage their own workload, seeking guidance and advice where necessary from the relevant Project Manager and the wider emergency care team. You will support staff in submitting applications to obtain the permissions required for new projects and ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all research activity whilst working closely with other members of the research team and the project staff. Applicants must be well organised, possess strong communication skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

In addition to progressive pay rates, UWE Bristol offers a wide range of employee benefits including:

  • a generous holiday allowance of 27 days pro rata
  • up to 12.5 bank holiday/closure days per year

This is a full time, 12 month fixed-term post. Job shares will be considered. This post requires DBS clearance and is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre.

We particularly encourage applications from BAME applicants as we are currently under represented in these areas – although all appointments will be made on merit.

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.

The University will be implementing a hybrid way of working once restrictions from Covid 19 end, therefore you will be expected to come onto campus to work for part of your working week. Exact days to be agreed.

UWE is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity to create an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who share our ambition to be a university recognised for the success and impact of our practice-oriented programmes; our strong industry networks and our inclusive global outlook.
