The AHSN Insight Team supports people in the health and care system by generating insights which facilitate the identification, implementation and sustained adoption of innovation. Insights may come from local (Wessex-based work), national programmes or academic sources.

The Insight programme comprises several Wessex-based programmes and national evaluation programmes. It includes evaluations of new models of care, innovative digital technologies, workforce changes and national spread and adoption initiatives. The work is varied and innovative in response to the Insight needs of our clients.

Job description

What you will do:

The Evaluation Programme Analyst is responsible for managing and implementing projects within the Wessex AHSN Insight programme. The post holder will provide expertise in the analysis of health-related information and routine data sets and interpret quantitative data on impact, implementation, quality and innovation improvement. They will identify, analyse and summarise quantitative data in order to evaluate the impact of healthcare interventions on patients, organisations and the wider healthcare system. Working collaboratively with other members of the Insight team at the Wessex AHSN, the post holder will provide intelligence that supports the adoption and spread of high impact innovations across Wessex and beyond.

The post holder will be expected to travel across Wessex to meet with project teams and member organisations across the region. Occasional travel to evaluation sites across the UK and overnight stays may be required.

What we are looking for:

The role would suit an individual who has well-developed technical skills in the analysis of complex quantitative data, and who is also interested in developing qualitative skills in evaluation design and management. It is highly desirable that the post holder has experience of evaluation or research activities, e.g. designing evaluations, undertaking evaluations and/or reporting evaluations. Skills in health economics are also desirable.

The applicant will have good knowledge of health and care systems to understand the context in which insights will be generated to facilitate the adoption of proven innovations.

The post holder will be based at the Wessex AHSN offices (Southampton Science Park) and most core team meetings will normally be held here. The post holder will be expected to travel across Wessex to meet with project teams and member organisations across the region. Occasional travel to evaluation sites across the UK and overnight stays may be required. N.B. At the current time, all systems are set up for remote working while restrictions are in place due to Covid-19.

Qualifications Essential

  • Educated to masters level or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience in data analysis, visualisation and modelling
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of quantitative analysis – methods and reporting
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Project Management training (e.g. AGILE, PRINCE II)
  • Knowledge of the local (Wessex) organisations and structures
  • Understanding of current policy and national drivers, e.g., STP/ICOs
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS and local health and social service functions
